Film Festival and Forum
Overview
The Urbana film festival, part of the Urbana seminar program, provided a place for participants to explore the intersection of filmmaking and missions. We met to view and discuss some of the best examples of missions and global filmmaking, attend discussions moderated by professionals and professors, and meet others who care about film and God’s heart for the world.
Session 1: "Telling the Missions Story."

Today, every missions agency has some sort of video communication tool whether it's for fund raising, promotion or general outreach. We'll look at excellent examples of this genre.
Session 2: "Telling the World's Story."

There is a growing movement of filmmakers shining light into the darkness, challenging the status quo, and telling stories that inspire and challenge the audience. Session two will focus on these examples.
Session 3: "The Forum"

Learn from experienced filmmakers who have screened their projects for packed theaters and national media.
Festival Director: Nathan Clarke
Nathan works for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's twentyonehundred productions and is the principal and founder of Fourth Line Films. His work has been featured on HDNet, PBS and published by both Chrstianity Today and Zondervan. His personal work is focused around intimate documentary portraits of easily ignored people.
Festival Co-Director: Dr. Norman Mintle, Ph.D.
Dr. Mintle is a 30-year veteran and award-winning media producer who now serves as the Academic Dean at the School of Communication & the Arts of Regent University. He works with faculty to train, motivate and lead graduate and undergraduate students into their God-directed futures in film, television, and the digital media. His heart and passion focus his research on reaching unreached audiences, through all the various media, with the power of the Gospel using styles, symbols, music and language that are understood by postmodern millennial viewers.
